In line with recommendations from police investigators, an indictment was handed down in the Tel Aviv District Court on Wednesday, 20 Kislev, against former cabinet minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer.
The indictment addresses five different cases involving numerous crimes including bribery, money laundering, fraud and tax evasion.
Ben-Eliezer is being represented by prominent attorneys Yaakov Weinrott and Amit Hadad, and he is one of five co-defendants in the case.
The indictment states from 2007-2014, when he served as a MK and cabinet minister for part of the time, Ben-Eliezer requested and received sums of money from a number of businessmen he was involved in. He used the money to buy real estate. The indictment states he gambled by not reporting any of the dealings which included hundreds of thousands of dollars. He filed false reports with Knesset authorities regarding his assets and dealings, and failed to report to tax officials.
